Qian Xuesen and Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Qian Xuesen was the winner of the first "Lifetime Achievement Award for Distinguished Alumni" hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His life and achievements fully demonstrate the core of the university's motto: When you drink water, never shall you forget its source; love your motherland and bring honour to your Alma Mater.

To celebrate the upcoming 116^th anniversary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Qian Xuesen Library and Communist Party & University History Study Office co-hosted the exhibition of "Think Source and Spread Far-reaching Results, Love Motherland and Honour Alma Mater-Qian Xuesen and His Bond with Shanghai Jiao Tong University". This exhibition has four parts, clearly demonstrating his lofty demeanour and extraordinary life of this People’s scientist through valuable historical pictures and detailed literatures. 

Part I-Study in Shanghai Jiao Tong University.This part shows Qian Xuesen's rich and colourful campus life.

Part II- Emotional Attachments to Alma Mater. After his graduation from Jiao Tong University, Qian Xuesen still paid continuous and close attention to the development of Jiao Tong University, which reflects the sincere love of an excellent alumnus for his alma mater.

Part III-A Scholarly Mentor and Beneficial Friend. Qian Xuesen has been a scholarly mentor and beneficial friend of many schoolmates and alumni, and the deep friendship between them indicates Qian Xuesen’s love for his homeland, scientific foresight, academic thoughts and innovative spirit.

Part IV-Permanent Respect and Admiration. This part focuses on showing the commemoration  and admiration for Qian Xuesen that all the people of Jiao Tong University hold and the inheritance and propagation of “Qian Xuesen Spirit”.

This exhibition opened at the Special Exhibition Hall of Qian Xuesen Library on April 8, 2012.
