According to Chinanews.com, Beijing, June 28 (Ma Haiyan), the “Qian Xuesen---Scientist of the People” 2013 exhibition hosted by Shanghai Jiaotong University Qian Xuesen Library with the instruction of the Ideological and Political Department of the Ministry of Education and the Publicity Department of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee unveiled its curtain today in Beijing Capital Museum.
Consisted of four sections including “Founder of Chinese Aerospace Industry”, “Pioneer of Scientific and Technological Frontier”,“Demeanor of the Scientist of the People” and “The Road to a Successful Strategic Scientist”, the exhibition exhibits over 400 precious literature and materials, reviews the establishment and development of Chinese rocket, missile and aerospace industry, and demonstrated Qian Xuesen’s outstanding contributions to the Chinese aerospace industry and modern science and technology.
Many visitors were quite interested in the five papers about aerospace and rocket published by Qian Xuesen during his years studying in Shanghai Jiaotong University, which are Accidents of Big US Spaceships and the Reason Why US Built Spaceship, The Printing Office of Aviation, Recent Development of Flight, Comparison of Steamship and Aircraft and Future Development of Steamship, Rocket. All these papers were written in the years when he just started his exploration in aerospace science. The papers have also demonstrated his acute insight of modern science and technology and his courage to explore new fields.
A famous photo attracted a lot of people to come to take pictures. The photo was taken on Sept 17, 1955 when Qian Xuesen and his family was on the deck of the ship “President Cleveland” to come back to China. In the photo, Qian Xuesen, who had been staying in foreign country for several years, smiled happily.
On Feb 17, 1956, Qian Xuesen submitted the founding work of Chinese missile industry---Proposal to Build Defense-Related Aerospace Industry in China to the State Council, putting forward the idea of developing aerospace technology in China for the first time and providing an important implementation plan for the development of rocket and missile technology. Currently, this proposal has become a precious exhibit in the showcase, and the Chinese aerospace industry which started from this manuscript has become increasingly prosperous.
Wu Dan, President of Shanghai Jiaotong University, said that as an outstanding scientist, Qian Xuesen had won the respect of people from China and even the whole world. He also said that Qian Xuesen's patriotism, the national spirit with patriotism as the core and the time spirit with reform and innovation as the core worth learning.
From June to September, the tour exhibition will be carried out in Kunming, Chengdu, Wuhan, Lanzhou, Hohhot and other cities.
