On May 13th, QLM invited Dr. Zhang Yu, Deputy Dean of the Foreign Language School of East China Normal University,to have a lecture entitled “Museum Education Embedded in Science Teaching”.
The cooperation between museums and primary (secondary) schools has been a significant trend in the development of museums since last century. Countries such as USA, Germany,Japan and Canada, that focus on museum education have long brought it into state education. The collaboration between museums and schools also promotes the progress of museums. In 2015, State Bureau of Cultural Relics and Bureau of Education co-issued Guiding Opinions on Reinforcing the Integration of Culture and Education and Improving Museum’s Role for Teenager Education, which further confirmed the utilization of museum resources in national andlocal courses and was an indicator of the closer relationship between museum and subject education.
Dr. Zhuang pointed out that Chinese museums and schools still confront problems at the moment: the lack of integration of school course and museum education resources; the “top tobottom” mode of their cooperation and the lack of professional support from the third party. After that, Dr. Zhuang briefly summarized several modes of the cooperation between museums and primary (secondary) schools from both home and abroad and shared her research results and practical experiences.
