As a national museum, Russian Space Museum was founded on April 10th, 1981 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin entering the outer space. After renovation, the museum was re-opened to the public on April 11th 2009. The museum’s collection features nearly 20,000 real objects related to Russia’s first artificial satellite, human being’s first spacewalk, lunar exploration, and the International Space Station. There are also manuscripts, archives and experiment data which recorded Russia’s air and space development. Qian Xuesen Library & Museum and Russia Space Museum agreed to exchange exhibitions in 2017.

Zhang Kai introduced that Qian Xuesen had paid visits to the Soviet Union in 1956 and 1957 respectively. Russian Academy of Sciences Archives director agreed that archives about Qian Xuesen’s visits are in their collection but may be dispersed in different research institutions. They will help collect all archives related to the two visits and will have deep research and collaborations with Qian Xuesen Library & Museum in the coming future.
