2019 Museum Exploration Program

Museum Exploration Program (MEP) is Qian Xuesen Library & Museum’s brand project tailored to students from universities in Hong Kong. This year’s MEP takes place in Shanghai and Chengdu, with three-week internship in six museums or related organizations in Shanghai and one-week museum-visiting in Chengdu.

Internship positions are co-decided by museums and students. They cover almost all aspects of a museum’s daily operation, from docent to exhibition planner. The six organizations that offer internship opportunities are: Shanghai Natural History Museum, Qian Xuesen Library & Museum of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Liu Haisu Art Museum, Shanghai Mingdao Cultural Development Center, Shanghai Film Museum, Shanghai Museum of Arts and Crafts, and Shanghai Radio Museum.

Museums MEP explores in Chengdu are mainly in two categories: university museums and public museums about Chengdu’s city history. Students concludes this year’s MEP by a group report “Learning Mode of a Modern Museum Should Incorporate both Active and Passive Methods”.
