QLM Exhibition Travels to Macau

2022 marks the 30th anniversary of China’s manned space project. To commemorate the special occasion and with the invitation by Macao Special Administration Region, QLM sends its exhibition “Outstanding Model of Patriotic Intellectuals – Life of Qian Xuesen” to Macao for the first time in December. The exhibition traces back the life of Qian Xuesen, father of China’s air and space programs, with special focus on the establishment of China’s space flight projects and promotion of science and technology education among young talents.

 

Together with the exhibition, a stage play “Qian Xuesen” was also performed at University of Macau. It was also the first time that the play went out of the mainland and made its debut in Macau. The play focuses on how Qian Xuesen, the "people's scientist", changed his ideal of life from "saving the country by transportation" to"saving the country by aviation" during his study at Shanghai Jiao Tong University; how he broke through the obstacles of the United States government and returned to China for the cause of defense science and technology after the founding of People's Republic of China; and how he led the first generation of "astronauts" to successfully launch the Dongfeng missile and a series of other historical events.

A series of activities apart from the exhibition and drama were presented to students from University of Macau, University of Science and Technology in Macau and local primary and secondary students to deepen the understanding and technological exchanges between Macao and the mainland.
