Poetic Drama Themed on Qian Xuesen Premiered at SJTU

The poetic drama Qian Xuesen created by QLM, had its first public performance on April 15th at Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). The drama focused on the legendary life of Qian Xuesen to present the image of a strategic scientist. As one of the series activities to celebrate the 127th anniversary of the founding of SJTU, the drama adopts highly condensed poetic symbols and plots, and takes the scientist’s patriotism and scientific spirit as the main theme.

 

Zhang Rui, one of the performers in the play, also from SJTU student choir, said to QLM that "It is an unforgettable experience to participate in the drama performance. With a pure heart for the motherland, Qian Xuesen broke through many difficulties and resolutely returned to China to build his own country. Every choice of his life is closely linked to the fate of his motherland. Now the fate is upon us. We should continue his journey and build our country with our minds and hands."  Cao Yu, the director, professed that in creating the play, he was touched by Qian Xuesen’s vow to "have my compatriots to live a happy and dignified life" many times.

 

The play was jointly performed by the Shanghai Recitation Association and the student choir of SJTU.
