“Scientist of the People---Qian Xuesen” exhibition opened in Beijing

In memory of Qian Xuesen’s centennial birthday, the “Scientist of the People---Qian Xuesen” exhibition was opened  on November 3 in the National Museum. Liu Yunshan, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee,  Secretariat of the Central Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee, and Liu Yandong, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and State Councilor, attended the opening ceremony and unveiled the exhibition. Yuan Guiren, Minister of the Ministry of Education, introduced the exhibition.

The exhibition consisted of four parts: "Founder of Chinese Aerospace Industry", "Pioneer of Scientific and Technological Frontier", "Demeanor of the Scientist of the People" and "The Road to a Successful Strategic Scientist", and exhibited over 400 documents and materials. All photos and objects on the exhibition demonstrated state leaders’ care about Qian Xuesen. The exhibition also reviewed the extraordinary establishment and development course of rocket, missile and aerospace industry of China, and fully demonstrated the outstanding contributions that Qian Xuesen had made to the Chinese aerospace industry and modern science and technology.

The exhibition was jointly held by the Publicity Department of the Central Committee, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, General Political Department of PLA, General Armament Department of PLA and China Association for Science and Technology and be undertaken by Shanghai Jiaotong University. Over 1000 representatives participated in the opening ceremony, including staff from relevant departments of the central government and representatives from various fields.

It is reported that the "Scientist of the People---Qian Xuesen" exhibition will last until November 19, after which tour exhibitions will be held in Shenyang, Guangzhou, Xi’an and other places.
