Audiences were visiting Qian Xuesen Library on December 11

In memory of Qian Xuesen’s centennial birthday, Qian Xuesen Library was established and opened in Shanghai Jiaotong University on December 11. Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the CPC, President of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, gave important instructions for the establishment and opening of Qian Xuesen Library.

Li Changchun, Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee came to Shanghai to attend the opening ceremony of Qian Xuesen Library, and unveiled the Qian Xuesen Statue. After the opening ceremony, he visited the exhibition in the library which consisted of four parts: "Founder of Chinese Aerospace Industry", "Pioneer of Scientific and Technological Frontier", "Demeanor of the Scientist of the People" and "The Road to a Successful Strategic Scientist", all of which fully demonstrated Qian Xuesen’s life of struggle and dedication. In front of precious literature, objects and photos, Li Changchun often stopped and listened to explanation carefully. 

Liu Yandong, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and State Councilor, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. 

Yu Zhengsheng, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and Secretary of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, attended the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony was presided by Yuan Guiren, Minister of the Ministry of Education. Wang Hongyao, Political Commissar of the General Armament Department of PLA, Yin Yicui, Deputy Secretary of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, Ma Dexiu, CPC Party Secretary of Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Qian Xuesen’s son Qian Yonggang delivered speeches on the opening ceremony.
