QLM’s first exhibition in Russia, which is entitled “Qian Xuesen: Father of China’s Air & Space Programs” was unveiled in Russian Science Hall on August 25. Telling the story of Dr. Qian’s life and legacy, the exhibition was to promote the cultural exchanges between the two countries and the friendship between the two peoples.

A total of a hundred photos and documents were on display. The exhibition showcased not only Qian’s legendary life of a strategic scientist, but also his contributions for the Sino-Russia science and technology exchange. Ms. SHENG Yi, QLM’s vice director remarked on the opening ceremony that the exhibition was also responding to China’s “one belt, one road” initiative, with a focus on culture and science exchange. China and Russia share a dream of space exploration. The exhibition provides a channel for Russians to learn about China’s story of space exploration and the related scientists.

Representatives from over 50 culture and science organizations from both countries attended the exhibition opening on August 25. Charge d'Affaires of Chinese embassy in Russia Mr. SU Fangqiu added that Dr. Qian had visited the Soviet Union twice and made an irreplaceable role in promoting the science exchange between the two countries. The legacies represented by Dr. Qian’s generation, relentless pursuit of the cutting-edge science and tenacious efforts for China’s air and space industry are expected to encourage China’s younger generation. Within the joint efforts of both sides, the two countries will certainly be able to create new glories in the aerospace industry.

The exhibition was made possible by China-Russian Friendship Association.
