In the NO.4 Exhibition Hall, we can see three old cameras that QianXuesen had used, and a few photos he took and developed. Qian Xuesen likedcameras. During his stay in the United States, he took photos for his friendsin case of outing activities. Tu Yuanji, secretary of Qian Xuesen, recalled,the photography works of Qian Xuesen once won a prize in the US, and he becamea member of the American Academy of Art and Science by submitting only onephoto he took.

Qian Xuesen once wrote a book named, “Art of the Science andScience of the Art”. In the book, he stressed that scientists should have someartistic culture and that science and art should supplement each other toinnovate in a comprehensive way.

Qian Xuesen said, “The cultivation of art not only deepens myunderstanding of the poetic illusion and life philosophy in the artistic works,but also enriches me with the long-span, macroscopic image thinking. I thinkthese things are beneficial to inspiring a person’s scientific innovation.”
