Qian Xuesen was a prominent scientist and founder of China's aerospace industry well-known at home and abroad; his outstanding contribution, noble deeds and lofty character is a precious spiritual legacy to our nation. Qian Xuesen Library & Museum, funded by the state, was completed and opened at Xuhui Campus, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, on December 11, 2011, the 100th birth anniversary of Qian. 


This is yet another memorial to a great scientist in China and is also designated as a national and Shanghai municipal base for patriotism education and science education, and national defense education base.


The museum houses a collection of nearly 70,000 pieces of artifacts of Qian Xuesen, including precious documents, manuscripts, photographs and realia, as well as an exhibition gallery of more than 3,000 square meters on the theme of "People’s scientist Qian Xuesen".


Here is an open platform for cultural education to advocate the spirit of Qian Xuesen and to promote patriotism and scientific spirit. Since its opening, our museum has received a cumulative total of over 600,000 visitors, hosted more than 10 original exhibitions, staged nearly 40 nationwide touring exhibitions, and held more than 300 educational activities.


Qian's scientific achievements, outstanding contributions and noble character, impressed the public through his vividly visualized image. Qian Xuesen Library & Museum will uphold Qian’s patriotism and scientific spirit, highlight professional, academic, and international standards, further explore the functions of our museum, and creatively promote the  core socialist values, so as to create a first-class center in cultural education.
