QLM Accredited as First-tier Museum in China

On May 18, during the main event of the 2024 International Museum Day in China, Li Jinguang, the secretary-general of the China Museum Association, officially announced the list of the fifth batch of first-tier museums in the national museum assessment. Qian Xuesen Library & Museum (QLM) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and the other 122 museums were accredited as the new batch of national first-tier museums, which is the top tier of the assessment.

 

In view of the announcement and also as a celebration, a press conference took place at QLM to announce the accreditation at the university level. A first-class university should have a first-class university museum. As the president of the National University Museum Education Alliance, SJTU strongly supports cultural affairs and museum development in high education institutions. Over the years, QLM has adhered to the “widely opening-door” policy, establishing communications between university and society, and continuously introducing the innovation and cultural vitality to the public.

 

The accreditation marks a brand-new beginning for QLM. Currently, QLM is undergoing a closure for renovation and upgrading of the permanent exhibitions, and is about to reopen in the coming months.
