QLM Delegation Visited Chinese Museums Association

QIAN Yonggang, director of Qian Xuesen Library & Museum (QLM), led a delegation to visit Chinese Museums Association (CMA) on June 6th. Executive director LI Fang and vice director ZHANG Yong, also joined the visit. The delegation exchanged views on the museum progress and updates with CMA President LIU Shuguang and CMA deputy secretary-general AI Jingfang.
LI Fang, QLM executive director, introduced QLM from three aspects: construction period, development process, and recent achievements. She expressed that, being recently accredited as the nation’s first-tier museum, QLM will strive to become a major hub for research, interpretation, and dissemination of Qian Xuesen’s scientific spirits, a pivotal center for "activating" Qian Xuesen's cultural relics for the society, and a model for innovative practices in museum-based "ideological and political courses".
As a participant of QLM’s creation from its very beginning, director QIAN Yonggang recalled QLM’s several critical moments in the 20-year construction and development since 2004. He focused on the naming process, architectural features,and exhibition ideas of the museum, and formally invited CMA President LIU Shuguang to visit QLM after its reopening in December this year.
CMA President LIU Shuguang, speak highly of QLM’s recent achievements and expressed his expectations for the future. First, he hoped that QLM would successfully host the International Forum of University Museum Directors, strengthen international cooperation and dialogue, voice China's opinion to the world, and become a flagship for university museums. Second, he encouraged QLM’s active participation in the "Museum Expo" to enhance exchanges and mutual learning with peers in the museum sector. Third, he emphasized the need to highlight the unique features of the venue, leveraging QLM's uniqueness as both a university museum and a scientist memorial hall to provide higher-quality public cultural services for the society.
